Day: Hellishly long, and somewhat amusing

Today was what will hopefully be the most sleep-deprived low point of our journey.  We started out in King's Cross station (GUESS WHICH PLATFORM OMG!!!!!!!111!!) at four in the morning.  Well, okay, around six in the morning, but who's counting?  We were in line after some Hassids, who said a prayer for the train before we left.  My Jewish fate mandated that this necessitate ridiculous delays, to the point of us boarding the next train to Brussels from King's Cross.  Fml.
King's Cross Station is ready for the Olympics

Myself, unreasonably chipper for six in the morning, standing underneath the KING'S CROSS SIGN FOR PLATFORMS NINE AND TEN!

We were finally on our way by 7:30, and Gill promptly went to sleep.  I stayed up reading for a while, and then the train came out of the tunnel, and I watched the scenery in France and the tail end of England.  Gill eventually woke up, and before we knew it, we were in Brussels.

The first thing we did at the train station was validate my EuRail Pass.  The second was find lockers made with Time Lord technology to hold our backpacks while we explored.  Our backpacks are large, and no one needs THAT much muscle mass planted firmly on their calves.

  2. Psh...no. I wasn't surreptitiously looking for Platform 9 3/4 at five in the morning. What would ever give you that idea?
